ABOUT THE ARTIST

BRITISH PAINTER, RICHARD P. COOK HAS TRAVELLED EXTENSIVELY SEEKING BEAUTY IN THE LIGHT, COLOUR AND VARIATION OF LANDSCAPES, BOTH NATURAL AND MANMADE. 

 

BORN IN THE FISHING TOWN OF GRIMSBY, MARINE AND MARITIME SUBJECTS OFTEN THREAD THROUGH HIS WORK. 

 

HE STUDIED PAINTING AND SCULPTURE AT GRIMSBY, AND LATER MAIDSTONE COLLEGE OF ART BEFORE BEING INVITED TO COMPLETE HIS POST-GRADUATE STUDIES AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY SCHOOLS, LONDON.

 

HIS EARLY WORK WON ACCLAIM AND EARNED HIM A RICHARD FORD TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIP TO SPAIN, AN E.T GREENSHIELDS TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIP AND THE DAVID MURRAY LANDSCAPE AWARD, AMONGST OTHERS.

RICHARD HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF THE ROYAL SOCIETY OF BRITISH ARTISTS FOR 40 YEARS AND HIS WORK IS WELL-REPRESENTED IN PRIVATE COLLECTIONS IN THE U.K AND ABROAD.

HIS PORTRAITURE HAS BEEN INCLUDED IN EXHIBITIONS FOR THE ROYAL PORTRAIT SOCIETY AT THE MALL GALLERIES AND AT THE NATIONAL PORTRAIT GALLERY.
